WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A World War II Veteran from Wilmington will receive the highest honor in France during a ceremony this week in Raleigh.
According to a news release, Norwood McKoy from the 192nd Chemical Deploy Company will be given the Legion of Honor by the Consul General of France, Denis Barbet.
The recognition is part of France's eternal gratitude to those who liberated it from oppression from 1944-45.
A total of 14 WWII Veterans from North Carolina will receive this award in recognition of their courage:
