Malaysia Airlines loses contact with aircraft, 239 people aboard

Malaysia Airlines confirms that flight MH370 lost contact with Subang Air Traffic Control around 1:40 p.m. EST Friday (local time 2:40 a.m., Saturday).

Flight MH370, operated on the B777-200 aircraft, departed Kuala Lumpur at 11:41 p.m. EST on Friday, March 7 (local time 12:41 a.m., March 8). The flight was expected to land in Beijing at 6:30 a.m. (local time) the same day.

There were 227 passengers, including two infants, on board, as well as 12 crew members.


Malaysia Airlines is currently working with the authorities who have activated their Search and Rescue team to locate the aircraft.
