April is child abuse and neglect prevention month and officials in the Cape Fear area are sharing ways you can be an advocate for an abused child or teen.
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Child neglect can range from not taking someone to school to starving a child almost to death; and believe it or not, child neglect and abuse is happening more in the Cape Fear area than most other areas in the state.
April is child abuse and neglect prevention month and officials who advocate for children on a daily basis want to bring the issue in to the light.
If you want to learn how you can get involved in helping kids in need , the Cape Fear Guardians Ad Litem program is holding an informational open house on April 8, once from 11 a.m. until noon, and again from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Those interested in pursuing this can call 251-2733.
This program is for those interested in volunteering to help investigate child abuse and neglect cases.
The office is located at 272 North Front Street suite #215 in Wilmington.
