E-cigarette ban goes into effect in Los Angeles

Posted: Updated:

Starting today, it will be illegal to take a puff from an electronic cigarette in many public places in Los Angeles,  including inside bars, restaurants, and clubs.

LA is the latest in a growing list of cities across the country to restrict the use of e-cigarettes.
The CDC says the potential health hazards of e-cigarettes are unknown since they are largely unregulated.

The battery-powered cartridges give users a dose of nicotine, as they inhale water vapors.
The ban comes as Congress pushes for nationwide regulations over the multi-billion dollar industry.
