Chesterfield police investigate statement concerning Cosby HS

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

Cosby High School administrators reassured parents Monday after a statement written in Hampton Park over the weekend raised concerns.

A sign with "Justice for Cal" written on it was posted in the same area where student, Cal Reilley, committed suicide last summer. The sign also contained the date 5.1.14.

Dr. Brenda Mayo, principal of the school, said in a letter to parents released on Monday afternoon, "While the statement never referenced Cosby High School and no direct threat was made against our students or school, we have worked with the police department as they have investigated this message today."

Cosby's letter to parents went on to say police have identified an adult who may have written the note.

Anyone with information about the statement should call Chesterfield police at 804-748-1251.
