WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Police are searching for the person(s) responsible for sending 33-year-old Darryl Taylor to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to police, officers were called Sunday afternoon around 3:30 to respond to reports of shots fired in the 500 block of Maides Avenue, near the Creekwood Community.

Police say a woman flagged downed law enforcement in route to the scene to advise her friend had been shot and she was taking him to the hospital.

According to the WPD, doctors said Taylor's injuries are not life-threatening and he's expected to be okay.

Sgt. Stansbury with WPD says the victim is in stable condition after being shot in the throat and chest.

No arrests have been made in the incident.

Police do not believe this shooting is related to another shooting that occurred near the intersection of 10th and Castle Streets.
