The search continues for two missing canoeists last seen Saturday evening canoeing on the Ohio River.
Cameron Buerger, 20, and Marty Stanaford, 19, both of Troy, Ohio, were last spotted around 5 p.m. in a canoe near Levanna, Ohio, which is about an hour upstream from Cincinnati. They were headed across the river to the Kentucky side.
Sheriff's deputies said the men were seen early Saturday evening on the shore of Dover, Ky. getting out of the canoe. Their cooler was found near the Meldahl Locks and Dam, less than 20 miles away from where they were last seen.
"[Sunday], they found a cooler that was in the canoe with them. We're just asking any of the local people in this area to please keep an eye out," said Sherry Peterson, the aunt of Cameron Buerger.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Ohio State Highway Patrol has been searching for the men since Sunday. Families of the missing men are asking for the public's help.
Officials said the men were in a green 1999 Old Town canoe that is 15 feet in length and license number OH-1599-ZK. Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts should call 911.
