Little League moving back to park where shootings occurred

Posted: Updated:
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A little league is taking back its park after moving games because of two shootings. The West Denison Little League will start playing games at Thrush Park again next Wednesday.

Last month, a man was shot and killed there, and a teen was shot in the foot. That led the little league to move all of its games to other fields.

On Thursday, parents and league leaders met with city officials at the park to finalize plans for holding games at Thrush again.

The league president says she's been assured of a police presence at all games for the rest of the year. However, one shooting happened with police at the other end of the park.

We asked the Cleveland Safety Director what exactly will be different, but despite multiple questions, we did not get a direct answer.

Councilwoman Dona Brady said she hasn't been told of the specifics. She simply wants to see more police. She said a second security camera is going up at the park, and the city has cut down one tree blocking the view of a camera already up.

While the first little league games are set for next week, the league is also planning a "Coaches versus Cops' game.
